To move it all or not to move it all?
I have a problem: I like to keep my stuff... and it's holding me back.
I find myself feeling guilty about going on to a new thing without trying to bring my old stuff along. This is true in my life in general in many ways, but in this particular case I'm talking about my old blog (located here: Irregularly Andy).
There are lots of great entries in my blog from as far back as 2003, but I don't want to keep that old blogging software around anymore (it's an old version of Movable Type). Do I really want to go back and try to bring it all into this new tool (Drupal), though?
I feel like it's the right thing to do, but it's time consuming to figure out how. It's things like this that often prevent me (or at least delay me) from moving forward.
I think it's similar to the person who wants to do learn a new positive habit... They start out one day, but then miss a day or two and feel like they need to "make up for it"... Which then makes them not want to pick it up again all the more. What they really need to do is just "pick up where they left off" and move forward. That's what I need to do, I believe. Just move forward.
Anyone else deal with this kind of thing? What do you do when feel like there's something that you should do, but it makes you want to do it less and less as time goes by... or when you have something new that you could do, but you feel stuck with the old?
